László Tulipán (1943-2007)
2013. July 03. - July 31.We celebrate our gallery's 60th anniversary with a special programme. Our graphical exhibition series presents each month works by a different graphical artist.
László Tulipán was born December 31st 1943 in Ungvár He graduated from the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts (painting section) in 1968. His teachers were Jenő Barcsay and György Kádár. His first solo exhibition was held in 1976 at the Stúdió Galéria. He was awarded the Derkovits-scholarship. He travelled to several countries for studies. He participated in numerous group exhibitions in Hungary and abroad. He was a member of the Association of Hungarian Fine Artists and Applied Artists.
After having finished his studies, he started working with graphics. His works always show the transformed past in the present or the present filled with contradictions. He depicts grotesque figures without personalities, in irrationality. Everyday sceneries but also artificial, untouchable suroundings.
