2024. October 04. - November 05.Vladimir Szabó (1905-1991) was already in connection with the art of drawing as a child, because his father, id. Vladimir Szabó was an art teacher. His talent developed early. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under the guidance of great masters: István Csók, Gyula Rudnay and János Vaszary. He continued his studies in Rome, where the Italian Renaissance and classical art had a great influence on his creative career.
Szabó's art is dominated by graphics and etchings, which are characterized by meticulous lines and details. With his work titled "Ludas Matyi" in 1954, he achieved the style that was also decisive for his later artworks. He became particularly famous for capturing complex compositions and fine details, in which humor and irony also play an important role. His work as an illustrator is also significant: among others, the illustrations of the works of Balzac, Dumas and Maupassant are also connect to his name.
Our chamber exhibition offers a special selection of Vladimir Szabó's drawings, presenting his approach to the representation of human figures, everyday scenes and nature. This unique watercolor and pencil artworks have never seen before. In addition to the detailed lines, grotesque and ironic elements also appear in his drawings, which give a special atmosphere to the depicted scenes.
Szabó's oeuvre has been widely recognized internationally. His artworks are preserved by many museums and galleries (Hungarian National Gallery, Museum of Fine Arts, Déri Museum in Debrecen, Janus Pannonius Museum in Pécs, Herman Ottó Museum in Miskolc, Modern Gallery in Rome), but many of his works can also be found in private collections. His creations have left a lasting mark on the Hungarian and international artistic life, thanks to the special combination of classical and modern elements.
