Arnold Gross (1929-2015) | Magical journey
2023. October 05. - November 05.Although nothing predestined him, Arnold Gross (1929-2015) still became artist. His strong imagination spurred him to embark on this often bumpy way. He moved to Budapest from Torda (his hometown) in Transylvania. First he studied at the Academy of Applied Arts, then at the College of Fine Arts, where he had excellent masters as: Gyula Hincz, György Kádár and Károly Koffán.
Even from his early watercolor paintings, it was clear that he was talented, yet he gained widespread recognition with his detailed etchings. With his artworks with fine lines and unique symbolism, he created a dream world in which there is only room for joy and play. Arnold Gross also liked to play on weekdays too, he was an "eternal child" who never wanted to grow up.
According to his Ars poetica: "We are surrounded in the world with so much trouble and horror, thay should not be allowed into the art".
