Biography

Ruff András was a Hungarian–Austrian sculptor and painter. He began his artistic studies at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in Budapest, and later continued at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. His master was Viktor Olgyai.

From 1919 onwards, he regularly exhibited at the National Salon and the Kunsthalle (Műcsarnok) in Budapest. Several of his works entered the collection of the Hungarian National Gallery.

As a sculptor, he mainly created small bronze sculptures, figurative compositions, and First World War memorials. His style is characterized by realism, refined modeling, and lyrical sensitivity.

Many of his public monuments can be found in Hungary and in former Hungarian territories, including Taksony, Kölcse, and Senec (Szenc, Slovakia). His bronze sculptures appear regularly at European and international art auctions.
