Orosz, István Polish field

Description
István Orosz, who was awarded the title of Artist of the Nation and the Kossuth Prize, has a graphic style reminiscent of 19th-century engravings. Windows, ancient columns, gardens, labyrinths and references to art history regularly appear in his artistic etchings. Orosz is a versatile artist, working in graphics, poster art, fiction and directing animated films. He is a Hungarian master of anamorphosis (transformation). The most famous of his famous sayings is the following: “There are things that I can imagine and draw. There are things that I can imagine, but I cannot draw. Can I draw something that I cannot imagine? That is what really interests me”. His etching titled "Polish Field" depicts a wild horse and its head. Its nostrils are dilated, “fire is blazing” in its eyes. Anger permeates this unusual animal, which seems to have emerged from a field. Its mane and thick neck are also covered with dense vegetation, the Polish field of the title. The lines of its muscular body remind the viewer of a furrowed field. The artist's steed seems wild, uncontrollable, untamable. Orosz has carved the strange creature, both animal and plant, with his usual brilliant drawing skills.
