Imre Varga's 85th birthday

Imre Varga celebrates his eighty-fifth birthday this November: the anniversary celebration is at the same time our due occassion to pay hommage to the master's outstanding artistic oeuvre. Imre Varga's prolific, ever consistent artistic production of over fifty years represents the highest quality in the twentieth century Hungarian sculpture and fine arts. Several of the master's public sculptures enrich and embellish public squares' and streets nationwide and on foreign terrain. His sculptures are characterised by a virtuose artistic skill, a cool, observing intellect, and an ever sensitive understanding and appreciation of the actual environment and situation he is working with. The master is a man of public but the same time someone who approaches universal values not through his own personality, but his sculptures which mold portraits of outstanding figures of history and the art world. He mediates culture: his works are intimately connected to the world of music, poetry, literature and the fine arts. In his mature, respectable age, the master is just as actively involved in the process of creation as ever: his most recent piece, the statue of David, has been finished this past year, have a look at our newsletter presentation (PDF). The Koller Gallery, Imre Varga's exclusive representative worldwide, hereby expresses its best wishes to the master.
